The National Depository Center (NDC) of Azerbaijan registered 4,299 exchange transactions on the purchase and sale of securities in the amount of 11.95 billion manat (over $7 billion) from January through November 2019, Trend reports referring to the NDC statistics on January 7.
The total number of exchange transactions decreased by 15 units compared to the same period of 2018. Their share in local currency increased by 8.4 percent and amounted to 3,867 transactions (90 percent of the total). Some 432 transactions (10 percent) were concluded in USD, which is 48.6 percent less compared with the same period of 2018 (792 transactions).
The total volume of registered exchange transactions amounting to 32.04 billion manat ($18.84 billion) in local currency and $11.89 billion in USD showed a decline of almost 6.8 percent compared to January through November 2018. The share of the volume of transactions concluded in local currency remained almost unchanged and amounted to 99.5 percent of the total volume due to a decrease of registered transactions in USD by 35 percent.
In July, the number and volume of transactions in dollars rose sharply, showing the highest growth since February. Fifty-seven transactions worth 3.598 million manat ($2.116 million) were carried out during the month.
