Telecommunication Minister: Azerbaijan to Launch Introduction of E-Governance in 2007

Ali Abbasov, Azerbaijan Telecommunication and IT Minister, said that concrete work in the issue on the introduction of E-Governance in Azerbaijan would be launched in 2007, Trend reports.

According to him, the Ministry had negotiations with international organizations and large-scale foreign companies. Main principles have been determined.

The Ministry is carrying out works within the State Programme on the Development of Telecommunications and IT in Azerbaijan for 2005-2008, as well as works on the forthcoming E-Governance, foundation of special economic zones, and expanding of information services, said Mr. Abbasov.

According to the Minister, Azerbaijan is currently introducing different components at the Ministers level.

In this connection, we have had negotiations with Cisco and Microsoft which have prepared a number of proposals, he said.

Yesterday, the Telecommunication Ministry of the Country and Cisco held a joint seminar E-Governance: Problems and Solutions. The main aim of the event was to introduce everybody with the experience of the Company in the sphere of E-Governance, as well as apply this experience in Azerbaijan.
