The work is planned to be launched in the near future in accordance with the Azerbaijani president’s decree on additional measures to improve the road transport infrastructure of a number of Azerbaijani districts, Spokesperson of State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads Anar Najafli told Trend.
“The work is underway to develop a project for the construction of the road transport infrastructure in Tovuz, Aghdam and Shamkir districts,” the spokesman added. “A project on the time schedule, new facilities and other information will be developed soon. Reconstruction of roads will begin following the design and approval of the project.”
"The funds for the reconstruction of roads in these have already been allocated,” Najafli added. “The Ministry of Finance was instructed to ensure the allocation of the funds."
In early March, the Azerbaijani president signed an order on measures to build highway in Tovuz district, the Shamkir-Zayam-Duyarli highway (18 km) and Zayam Jirdakhan-Tatarli highway in Shamkir district, and on the construction of the Alirzali-Khan Garvand-Safikurd-Tap Garagoyunlu road in Goranboy district highway, connecting eight settlements with a total population of 31,000 people.
The funds have been allocated this year for the improvement of 36 roads having importance for the country. Furthermore, the funds were allocated for the repair of 12 roads in Baku city, as well as for the improvement of the districts in the capital and surrounding settlements.
