An emergency meeting of transport ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) will be held in a virtual format today on December 15, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, Shahram Adamnejad said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
Adamnejad stressed that 8 ministers and 2 deputy ministers from ECO member states will attend the meeting.
He added that certain ways will be discussed in the meeting to solve the problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic and increase cooperation with the implementation of health protocols.
The deputy minister noted that the member states will achieve the final result in a direction to increase cooperation and facilitate cargo transportation.
According to him, Iran has taken important steps in the implementation of health protocols at its borders. So, disinfection equipment has been installed in all railway and road customs of the country.
“A ‘Green Corridor’ transport system has been established between the ECO member states. The peculiarity of railway transport has resulted in the interest of many countries in the use of this area. The countries are constantly investing in infrastructure in the railway transport sector for this purpose,” he said.
