Demand for foreign currency decreased in Kazakhstan in March 2015, according to the message released by the analytical service Ranking.kz.

The message said that during this period, the exchange offices in Kazakhstan in total sold Russian rubles, US dollars and euros worth 294 billion tenge (185.8 tenge = $1), which is 19.3 percent less than in February 2015.

For comparison: in February, the exchange offices in Kazakhstan sold currency worth 364.5 billion tenge. During the period from March 2014 to March 2015, sales of foreign currency in Kazakhstan decreased by 21.6 percent.

The message said that all three currencies showed a decline in sales volumes. The dollar showed the sharpest decline in the last month - by 22.2 percent, up to 201.6 billion tenge.

Sales of euros in Kazakhstan for March declined by 12.9 percent - up to 18.5 billion tenge (the lowest figure since December 2012).

Sales of the Russian ruble decreased during the period by 12.1 percent, up to 73.9 billion tenge.
