Chairman of Kazakhstan's Agency for Protection and Development of Competition Serik Zhumangarin announced a decrease in the share of state purchases from a single source, Trend reports referring to Kazinform.
"When tracing the dynamics of state purchases, we are of course most interested in those purchases that are carried out by non-competitive methods. These are the so-called purchases from a 'single source'. If we look at such purchases, we can see that their share has decreased," Zhumangarin said.
"For example, in 2016, it amounted to 48 percent, and in 2019 - 34 percent. The share is lowering, and this is a good indicator. In total, 7.7 trillion tenge ($18 billion) has been purchased from a 'single source' in 5 years," the speaker noted.
"If we take the structure of public procurement as a whole, we see that the share from a single source has decreased to 40 percent, the share of purchases at auctions is growing, but still the direct conclusion and the conclusion from a single source is 57 percent," he added.
