The loan agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development on the project "Reconstruction of the Bishkek - Torugart highway" to the amount of $11.9M was signed in the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan, 24.kg reported.
Reportedly, the project is directed at improvement of the road carpet on the road segment with a length of 93 km (from 272nd to 365th kilometer). It provides for carrying out of excavation works, asphalting and drainage, reconstruction of bridges, the provision of consulting services for construction supervision.
Financing is provided under the Arab Coordination Group by five donors: the Islamic Development Bank, the Saudi Fund for Development, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, the OPEC Fund for International Development and the Abu Dhabi Foundation. The total project cost is estimated at $ 69.25 million, including the Kyrgyz Government's co-financing in the amount of $ 6.1 million.
