BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. Inflation rate in Tajikistan recorded in May 2023 has declined compared to the previous month, Trend reports.
According to the analysis conducted by the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), Tajikistan experienced a decrease in its inflation rate to 2.4 percent in May 2023 from 3.4 percent in April of the same year.
The decline of inflation rate in the country was influenced by the certain factors, among which the stability of the Tajik somoni exchange rate and the dynamics of international food and energy prices.
Despite the current positive trend, the EDB expects a rise in the annual inflation rate in Tajikistan during the third quarter of 2023. This is anticipated to happen amid the predicted increase in inflation in Russia and the relatively modest rate of price growth observed during the same period in 2022.
Meanwhile, according to the data of the National Bank of Tajikistan, the annual inflation rate in the country reached 3.4 percent in April of this year, 3.6 percent in March, 4.5 percent in February, 4.3 percent in January.
The National Bank of Tajikistan aims to maintain the inflation rate within the range of 6 percent (±2 percentage points) for the year 2023, consistent with the target set in previous years.
