DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 28. Kazakhstan’s imports from Tajikistan reached $170.2 million from January through June 2023, which is a decrease of 33.3 percent compared to the same period of 2022 ($255.1 million), Trend reports.
As per the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan, the decline in Kazakhstan’s imports from Tajikistan primarily occurred due to a 2.5 times drop in the supply of copper ores and concentrates, which declined from $93.7 million in January-June 2022 to $37.2 million in the same period of 2023.
Additionally, imports of zinc ores and concentrates decreased by 1.9 times, decreasing from $67.6 million to $36.2 million.
Moreover, imports of silver ores and concentrates ceased, while during the same period last year, the value of these imports equaled $1.4 million. Similarly, there were no imports of carrots and turnips in January-June 2023, while in the corresponding period of 2022 it amounted to $1 million.
Generally, the Kazakhstan’s imports from Tajikistan consist of raw materials, vegetables, and fruits.
The total trade volume between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in the first half of 2023 amounted to $557.4 million, decreasing 9.7 percent compared to the first half of 2022 ($617.2 million).
