The export of footwear from Uzbekistan in 2020 increased by 91 percent despite the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the world economy, Trend reports referring to the State Customs Committee.

The supplies of footwear to Tajikistan increased 4.5 times, to Afghanistan - 4.4 times, to Kazakhstan - 2.1 times, Turkmenistan - 1.8 times, and exports to Kyrgyzstan increased 1.1 times.

According to the information, the main factors of such dynamics are the implementation of a number of Presidential Decrees and Resolutions aimed at reducing the impact of the pandemic on the economy, as well as support provided to entrepreneurship.

As a result of targeted measures, Uzbekistan managed to achieve an increase in the share of products with high added value in the export line.

The export of footwear products doubled compared to the same period last year, and reached 28.8 million pairs, while imports to the country decreased by 74 percent.

In addition, the geography of the main markets for the sale of footwear under "Made in Uzbekistan" brand has also expanded. The export map today includes 12 countries, including the US, the UAE, Kuwait, Latvia, Moldova.

According to the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan, the largest increase in the supply of Uzbek footwear from January through September 2020 was noted in Tajikistan - 4.5 times and Afghanistan - 4.4 times.

Due to the expansion of local production, imports of footwear to Uzbekistan in the reporting period decreased by 74 percent - by 4 million pairs.
