(Cihan) - Heavy snowfall all over Turkey, which has been influential in the last two days in particular, has resulted in the closure of schools on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Dozens of main roads have also been closed to traffic because of huge snowfall that paralyzed life in many cities, especially in mountainous eastern Turkey where winters are very harsh and cold.

The highway that connects Turkish capital Ankara and Istanbul, the biggest city of the country, was also closed near Bolu Mountain ramps due to the snowfall and traffic accidents caused by the snow, reports Trend.

In eastern and southeastern Turkey, thousands of village roads were closed. Officials stepped up efforts to re-open the roads to traffic as soon as possible.

Primary and secondary schools in many provinces have been closed for a day or two due to the heavy snowfall.
