Iran’s fruits export increases by 179%

Iran exported 221,760 tons of fruits during the first six months of the current fiscal year (March 20-Sept. 21, 2016).

The figure indicates a rise by 178.98 percent year-on-year, ISNA news agency reported Oct. 24.

The value of the exported fruits reached $85.324 million, which is 71.58 percent more compared to the first half of last Iranian fiscal year (March 20-Sept. 21, 2015).

Iran exported 20 type of fruits such as pomegranate, olive, citrus fruits, plum, raspberries, strawberries, apricot, apple, pear, cherry, banana, coconut and kiwi to almost 44 countries including Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Australia, Armenia, Afghanistan, Albania, Germany, UAE, UK, Ukraine, Uganda, US, Belgium, Bahrain, Bangladesh, etc.

The average price of the exported fruits decreased by 38 cent per kilogram during the six-month period and stood at 24 cents per kilogram.

Iran's total non-oil exports (including the gas condensate) stood at $21.706 billion in the first six months of the current fiscal year, which indicates a 6-percent increase.

Agricultural products shared $1.528 billion worth of the exports (7 percent fall year-on-year).
