Iran-China trade turnover up 30% in 1H17

Trade turnover between Iran and China has increased by 30 percent in the first half of 2017, according to Iran’s Ambassador to China Ali Asqar Khaji.

Trade between the two countries in the mentioned period hit $18.07 billion, showing an increment of $4 billion compared to the first half of 2016, Khaji said, IRNA reported.

He further said that in the first half of 2017, trade turnover was $346 million in favor of Iran.

In the meantime, he noted, Iran exported 14.8 million tons of non-noil products (gas condensates included) worth $3.61 billion.

According to data recently released by China’s customs office, China’s exports to the Islamic Republic in the first half of 2017 also increased by 23 percent compared to the same period in 2016, amounting to $8.8 billion.

Back in January 2016, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani held talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Tehran and said, “We predict that the value of economic exchanges between Tehran and Beijing would rise to $600 billion within the next 10 years”.
