The new government has the capacity to build 4 million housing units during its four year ruling terms, said the Minister of Road and Urban Development, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.
The construction companies have the ability to annually build one million housing units based on the government planning and policies, Rostam Ghassemi has indicated.
"In addition to building one million housing units per year, it is possible to provide and export construction materials," he indicated.
"In order to build one million housing units we need 32 million tons of cement and there is no problem in this area while there is a need for 12 million tons of steel and the steel production capacity is more than double," he noted.
The minister has announced land database system will be launched soon to facilitate the construction of housing units.
The decision to set up a housing development fund has been taken that would integrate installment of Mehr Housing Plan, the credit line for it, and part of housing credit budgets while 20 percent of bank advances would be assigned to housing sector.
