The issue of political prisoners and political refugees - an important issue not only for the Democratic Movement, but for the whole of Georgian society, leader of the Democratic Movement Nino Burjanadze said at a press conference on Wednesday.
She urged the Government to address the issue of political prisoners.
"Every day we hear all kinds of obscenity from the National Movement. I don't understand why the National Movement is trying to stretch the approval time of the list of the people serving time for political reasons. It is not easy for National Movement to hear of so many political prisoners, especially since it causes a lot of questions in the West," Burjanadze said.
She noted that it is necessary to show the West that there wasn't any democracy in Georgia and the chance to build the democracy appeared now.
Former Speaker of the Parliament believes that the decision of the Parliament on the status of political prisoners and political refugees will be adopted on December 5 and these people will be given the opportunity to return to their families.
Nino Burjanadze also said that her husband - Badri Bitsadze will return home only after he will have the opportunity to live an active life.
