UK, Germany, France Asked to Join Missile Incident Probe in Georgia

( Civil ) - Georgia's foreign minister, Gela Bezhuashvili, met with the French, German and British ambassadors and asked that their countries send experts to probe into the August 6 missile incident, the Foreign Ministry said.

Experts from Lithuania, Latvia and the United States are already in Georgia looking into the incident. The American experts specialize in radars and munitions.

Bezhuashvili also spoke with the EU special representative to the South Caucasus, Peter Semneby, on the phone on August 13, and called for the EU's active involvement in the investigation. He also spoke on the phone with the foreign minister of Finland, Ilkka Kanerva, to encourage Finnish participation.
