ElBaradei urges dialogue to prepare for days after Mubarak

Leading Egyptian opposition figure Mohammed ElBaradei told broadcaster al-Arabiya Tuesday that opposition groups should begin to prepare for a "new Egypt."

He said this Friday would be a "day of departure" for President Hosny Mubarak, DPA reported.

"I hope he will answer this calling," ElBaradei said, adding that in order to start negotiations between the opposition and the government, Mubarak would have to step down.

"I don't think he would like to see more bloodshed," the Nobel Peace laureate said. "I do not see any reason for Mubarak to stay on one day longer."
