After a weeks-long scandal over allegations of stalking, Swiss Army chief of staf Roland Nef resigned on Wednesday.
The Swiss government's Federal Council in a statement said it has formally acknowledged Nef's resignation, dpa reported.
Nef, 49, had been suspended from service at the end of July after Zurich prosecutors launched punitive proceedings against him over allegations that he had stalked and sexually harrassed his ex- girlfried over an extended period.
