Egyptian soccer team Haras el-Hodoud won their first-ever Egypt Cup on Sunday by beating ENPPI 4-1 through penalty shoot-out in the final, Xinhua reported.
Ahmed Mekki from Hodoud scored in the first half of extra time after the two sides were locked at 0-0 in the regulation one, but ENPPI held their nerve and drew level in the 106th minute.
Neither could secure any clear chance in the remaining time, dragging the game into penalties.
Abdullah Ragab, the ENPPI full back, saw his shot blocked by the post after the Hodoud goalkeeper Mathurin Kameni foiled his teammate's spot kick.
It is the second time that ENPPI, which snatched the cup once in history, has been defeated in the final.
Ahly and Zamalik, two famed Egyptian teams which had performed well in the African matches, were knocked out early in the Egyptian Cup.
