Turk Cyprus President: Tactical games wrong in peace process

Türkiye Materials 1 September 2008 15:19 (UTC +04:00)

President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Mehmet Ali Talat, said Monday that a serious negotiation process would begin (in Cyprus) on September 3rd, reported Worldbulletin.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark September 1st-World Peace Day at the garden of the Union of Turkish Cypriot Journalists in Lefkosa, Talat said that "tactical games should not hurt the negotiation process."

"It would be wrong for both sides in Cyprus to think that any side can get away with certain things prior to the negotiations," Talat noted.

Everything must be debated and discussed at the negotiation table, Talat said.

The media carried high importance during the negotiation process, Talat added.
