Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Tuesday that people would decide about the future of their countries in the Middle East, Anadolu News Agency reported.
Commenting on the incidents in the Middle East during a joint press conference with Luxembourg's Deputy Premier & Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn in Ankara, Davutoglu said that Arab world had been passing through a historic transformation, adding that Turkey was closely following the incidents in Libya, and it had a clear stance regarding the incidents.
Noting that there should be a balance between security and freedom, Davutoglu said, "we should not sacrifice freedom for security, or security for freedom."
He said that people in the region wanted peace, more transparency and good governance, adding that Turkey wanted this transformation to be made peacefully.
Davutoglu said that the will of people should be respected, adding that it should be people who would decide the future of their country in Tunisia, Egypt or Libya.
Stressing the importance of regional and international support, Davutoglu said that states in the region and international community should be in solidarity about the transformation in the Middle East.
