President Ahmadinejad's Special Envoy and Deputy Foreign Minister in Europe and America Affairs in a meeting with Serbia president here submitted an invitation letter for attending NAM summit meeting in Tehran, IRNA reported.
Ali Asghar Khaji in a meeting with President Tomislav Nikolic here on Tuesday, by referring to existing historical situation in international relations, underlined necessity of reviewing definition of Non-Aligned Movement responsibility.
He said that the West is engaged with a huge crisis, and although it started from economic, but its political and social dimensions are getting more and more important.
'We are also witness to awakening of nations, including in Islamic countries and in such situations NAM, as the largest international organization after the UN should make itself ready for new responsibilities.'
Concerning old ties of the two countries, Khaji said that trade exchange level is not proportionate with existing capacities, so efforts to enjoy all opportunities and removing obstacles with the aim of activating all different cooperation fields looks necessary.
President Nikolic welcomed President Ahmadinejad's invitation for attending NAM summit meeting in Tehran and said that the movement has shown that it can be effective in today's world.
He added that although the movement witnessed a period of stagnation, but now considering a large number of members, the movement has turned into a noticeable organization for cooperation between nations, especially in the field of economy.
Criticizing illogical approaches of a number of countries, the Serbian president expressed his country's readiness to develop relations with Iran.
Serbia is an observer member of NAM.
