Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze paid a working visit to Spain. Vashadze met with Spanish Foreign Minister Angel Moratinos to review bilateral relations and the situation in Georgia's occupied regions, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister David Jalagoniya said at a briefing. The officials also discussed Georgia's cooperation with international organizations, including the EU, OSCE and NATO.
Spain supports Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Moratinos said. Vashadze thanked him for the support his country rendered to Georgia during the August war.
The sides have stressed the significance of the EU mission to Georgia.
"The ministers have also reviewed Georgian-EU relations. The Eastern Partnership may also contribute to facilitating the country's European integration," Jalagoniya said.
A Spanish embassy will open in Georgia soon, Moratinos added.
Specific attention was paid to developing cultural and economic cooperation between the two countries.
