Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 18/ Trend , A. Huseynbala/ On Feb. 18, Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) cast lots to distribute free airtime for referendum.
Referendum campaign groups will be allotted free airtime on the Public Television and Public Radio Station once a week.
The groups will have an opportunity to debate referendum from 18:15 to 19:45 on Saturdays on the Public Television and from 20:15 to 21:45 on Wednesdays on the Public Radio Station. The airtime for the presenter will be determined by the Public Television. The referendum campaign groups will be allotted four free airtimes on the Public Television and Radio each during the campaign period. The first debate on the Public TV will begin on Feb. 21 and on Public Radio on Feb. 18.
According to the casting of lots, Intellect referendum group will be first, Progress second, Civil Society third, For Sustainable Development fourth, Movement for Karabakh and Republic fifth, Republicans sixth, Law and Democracy seventh, City eighth and New Azerbaijan campaign group will be last to launch referendum campaign on television. The groups with odd numbers will sit to right and even numbers to the left of the presenter. The last New Azerbaijan Group will sit in front of the presenter.
Azerbaijan will hold a referendum on March 18 to amend the Constitution.
The Central Election Commission registered the New Azerbaijan, City, Progress, Law and Democracy and Civil Society initiative groups. The Prosperous Village, Free Speech, Azerbaijan People's Republic and National Independence initiative groups were not registered.
The Azerbaijani Constitution was adopted in 1995. Amendments and additions were made in 2002.
The referendum campaign will begin Feb. 18 and end March 16 at midnight.
Law and Democracy, City, Progress, Civil Society and For Sustainable Development campaign groups have been selected as members with advisory vote of the commission.
