Members of American embassy, community, american citizens and members of the american-educated Azerbaijani alumni association performed a Day of Public Service to commemorate the 10th anniversary of attack of September 11, 2001 on New York city and Washington DC.

Ambassador Matthew Bryza, who attended the event and concert, said:

"Observing September 11as a Day of National Service provide a way for Americans and others to honour the victims, survivors, and the many that rose in service in responce to this cold-blooded murderers of thousands of innocent people from a range of countries. The spirit of unity visible here today reflect the important cooperation Azerbaijan offered the United States immediately after September 11, and which continues to this very day. The United States remain extremely grateful to our Azerbaijani friends."

Sunday, Sept. 11 is the tenth anniversary of the act of terror against the United States committed by al-Qaeda terrorists, which has become the biggest in the history of mankind. After that, the U.S. declared a war against global terror.

Bryza added that the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains a priority for the Secretary of State Clinton and the U.S. government, and that he sees progress in the OSCE Minsk group-led negotiations to find a just and peaceful settlement to the conflict.

"One of the most positive development which came out of the tragedy, was what how strongly our friends in the world came together with us and deep service in our favour. One of our friends in the world who reacted practically before the else was Azerbaijan. I will never forget how powerful and positive I felt myself at the moment, when I learned the next day at White House that Heydar Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, offered a full support from Azerbaijan including open airspace for american aircraft. That cooperation is only growing deeper and wider in this years and continues to this day", - said ambassador.
