At a conference on 28 November 2006, dedicated to fight against corruption in education, Maurizio Pavesi, the Head of the Baku Office, stated that corruption in education hinders the development of every society, Trend reports.
The Ambassador stated that the country will only develop when the culture level meets European Standards. Reforms in education depend on the struggle against corruption, he stated. There is no point in being educated if it possible to purchase a diploma. Corruption in education is not only a technical problem but a problem of social injustice, Pavesi stressed.
Pavesi stressed that they are willing to continue co-operating with the Government of Azerbaijan in fighting against corruption in education and the conference is the first step towards eliminating the problem.
