Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / The press-service of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan has reported that the appeal by Ruslan Bashirli, the Chairman of the Youth Movement of Yeni Fikir, has been presented to the European Court on Human Rights.
The appeal was made by lawyers, Osman Kazimov and Isakhan Ashurov and envisages the injustice of the court trial of Ruslan Bashirli. The lawyers requested the Court's decision to pay compensation to Bashirli, a sum to be defined by the European Court.
Bashirli was charged with contravening Article 278 (coup d'etat) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan and was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment by the Grave Court. The Deputy Chairmen of the Movement, Ramin Tagiyev was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and Said Nuri to 3 years imprisonment.
