Iranian President and Caucasus Islamic Leader Discuss Solutions to Problems of the Islamic World

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Agayeva / The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejat and Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, the chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Clerical Board (CMCB), voiced their interest in the establishment of peace and security in the region. These issues were discussed between the Iranian President and Sheik-ul-Islam of Caucasus in Baku on 22 August, Akif Agayev, a spokesman for the CMCB said.

The leader of Caucasus Muslims stressed the importance of a resolution to problems of the Islamic world, resolution of conflicts in the territory of Islamic countries, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Palestine and Iraq.

The Iranian President appraised Sheik-ul-Islam's role in the preservation and development of Islam, national and religious beliefs.

Ahmadinejat assured Sheik-ul-Islam in rendering any necessary assistance to Azerbaijani believers, who pay pilgrimage to the Muslim sacred sites - Hajj and Meshed.

The Iranian President arrived in Azerbaijan on 21 August on an official visit. On the same day he held talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart and afterwards signed several bilateral documents.
