IMF restores post of constant representative in Georgia

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) appointed new constant representative Eduard Gardner in Georgia, Tbilisi office of the Fund said on Feb. 6.

"He will start to work on Mar. 15," the office said.

Presently, Eduard Gardner is the Fund's constant representative in Lebanon. The position of constant representative was abolished in Georgia in summer 2008. But this position will be resumed due to launching of the IMF's new project from Mar. 15.

Gardner arrived in Georgia with the Fund's mission. He held meetings with officials of the government, the Parliament and civil society.
