Georgia strengthens combating monopoly

The Georgian government strengthens the fight against high prices.

The legislature has initiated a bill to establish an anti-monopoly service. The bill envisages struggle against monopolies on the market, a source at the Parliament of Georgia to Trend on Thursday.

According to the project, malicious use of a dominant position on the market to the detriment of consumers will be punished. Also it prohibits price-fixing by companies to the detriment of consumers.

Upon presidential order, an independent agency of procurement and competition has been created to protect the rights of consumers.
