Unscheduled inspection starts at largest cement plants in Uzbekistan

An unscheduled inspection of financial-economic activity of Ahangarancement OJSC began in Uzbekistan.

The reason for the start of a comprehensive audit of financial and economic activity of the plant was the criminal charges against several employees of Ahangarancement OJSC, a source in government circles of the republic told Trend on April 14.

The company's employees said that at present the plant is operating in a normal mode.
Ahangarancement JSC is the second cement producer in Uzbekistan. Design capacity of the plant is 1,986 million tons of cement per year. The plant's share in the domestic market is about 30 percent. The plant's products are exported to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

Russian holding Eurocement Group acquired some 75.5 percent of Ahangarancement JSC shares in 2006. At present, the share of Eurocement Group is 83.92 percent in the authorized capital of JSC, while the direct owner of the plant is Swiss Eurocement Holding AG. The other shareholders are individuals.

In 2013, Ahangarancement increased cement production by six percent compared with 2012 - up to 1.62 million tons, including clinker - 13 per cent (to 1.166 million tons). Company mined and sent to production 1.641 million tons of limestone (19 percent growth).

At the present time, some six cement plants with a total installed capacity of more than seven million tons operate in Uzbekistan
The largest - Kizilkumcement JSC (3.08 million tons), Ahangarancement JSC (1.74 million tons) and Kuvasaycement (920,000 tons).

Cement production increased by 4.4 percent in 2013 in Uzbekistan compared with 2012 - up to 7.133 million tons. Uzstroymateriali JSC combining building materials industry enterprises of the republic said.
