EBRD allocates financial package to Tajik HUMO microlender

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, May 18. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has allocated a $4 million financial package to the Tajik HUMO microfinance institution, Trend reports.

According to the EBRD, these funds are designated to bolster inclusive lending practices in the most remote areas of Tajikistan.

Under the EBRD's Youth in Business program in Central Asia, HUMO is set to receive up to $2 million. This initiative aims to enhance financial access and provide relevant training for young entrepreneurs across the region.

Additionally, a loan of up to $1 million, under the EBRD’s Women in Business (WiB) program for Central Asia, will be instrumental in fostering women’s entrepreneurship and business endeavors.

Completing the financing package is a $1 million loan intended to foster the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Tajikistan.

As of February 29, 2024, the EBRD's current project portfolio in Tajikistan was 507 million euros, with 72 active projects scheduled for completion. Overall, the EBRD has committed 947 million euros to 168 projects throughout the country.
