BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. A total of 9.6 million tons of cargo were transported from Italy to Turkish ports from January through April 2024, the statement of Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry, Turkish-flagged vessels delivered 2.1 million tons of cargo to local ports from Italy, while vessels under the flags of other countries - 7.1 million tons.
During this period, 400,600 tons of cargo were delivered by Italian-flagged vessels to Turkish ports. Approximately 5.2 million tons of transit cargo were transported to the ports of Türkiye from Italy from January through April 2024.
Additionally, it should be noted that in April 2024, the ports of Türkiye received 34.4 million tons of cargo.
Cargo reception at domestic ports by Turkish-flagged vessels during this period amounted to 2.3 million tons.
“Cargo transported by vessels flying the flags of other countries to Turkish ports amounted to 32 million tons,” the ministry statement says.
Besides, 6 million tons of transit cargo were transported from Turkish ports in April 2024.
The ministry added that from January through April 2024, Tzürkiye's ports received 137.1 million tons of cargo.
“Cargo traffic by vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 10 million tons. And by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo traffic to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 127 million tons,” the statement notes.
The statement also indicates that from January through April 2024, 22.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye.
However, it should be noted that in April 2024, the ports of Türkiye received 4,756 vessels.
Information indicates that during this period, the number of vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by the ports of Türkiye amounted to 3,329, while the number of vessels under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 427,000.
The ports of Türkiye received 18,477 vessels from January through April 2024.
“During this time, the number of vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 12,704 and vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 5,773," the statement of the ministry said.
