Türkiye counts volume of cargo handled by its Bandirma port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17. A total of 143,249 tons of cargo were transported from the Turkish Bandirma port by vessels flying the flag of Türkiye, and 1.5 million tons of cargo by vessels flying other countries' flags from January through April 2024, the statement of Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.

According to the statement, in the reporting period, 55,513 tons of transit cargo were transported from Bandirma port.

Additionally, in April 2024, Türkiye's ports received 34.3 million tons of cargo.

The reception of cargoes to domestic ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.3 million tons during this period.

“Cargo shipments of vessels under the flags of other countries to Türkiye's ports amounted to 32 million tons,” the statement of the ministry reads.

Besides, six million tons of transit cargo were transported.

The ministry noted that from January through April 2024, Türkiye's ports received 137.1 million tons of cargo.

“Cargo traffic by vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 10 million tons. However, by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo traffic to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 127 million tons,” the statement notes.

The statement indicates that 22.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye from January through April 2024.

Meanwhile, Türkiye's ports accepted 4,756 vessels in April this year.

During this period, the number of vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by the ports of Türkiye amounted to 3,329, while the number of vessels under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 427,000.

Türkiye's ports received 18,477 vessels from January through April 2024.

“During this period, vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Türkiye's ports amounted to 12,704 and vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 5,773,” the statement of the ministry added.
