Customers of Uzbek banks will be allowed to visit bank offices without presenting their IDs in line with the new order established by the Uzbek president’s decree.

Currently, Uzbek bank offices have turnstiles at their entrances, as well as the special policemen, who check the presented documents. The clients, on their part, not only present their documents, but also register in a special logbook.

From July 1, however, the banks will be obliged to grant a free access to the customer service area to get prior consultation concerning the services from the bank reception employees, Uzbek media reported on March 24.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev also ordered the banks to solve one more essential issue. The banks will have to launch a transparent system of registration and loan request consideration. The system will have a step-by-step tracking of decision making procedure and notifications about loan issuing or refusal.

The president’s order also prohibits credit organizations to charge interest, commission, forfeit, fine or penalty, as well as implement other measures on micro-credit agreements and pawn-shop agreements by more than half of the loan sum.

Moreover, the credit organizations will also be prohibited from charging for considering loan requests, maintaining loan accounts, issuing loans as well as for advance paying of loans and micro-credits by natural persons and small entrepreneurs.
