Passage of trucks from Iran's Jolfa customs increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 6

The number of trucks passing through the Jolfa border checkpoint in the East Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) increased by 66 percent during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 20-August 21, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Orujali Alizadeh Director General of East-Azerbaijan Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

According to Alizadeh, 21,700 trucks passed through the Jolfa border checkpoint during the reporting period.

The director general added that 125,000 tons of goods were exported and imported through the Jolfa border checkpoint over 5 months.

"In addition, 137,400 tons of goods were transited through this customs," he said.

The Jolfa border checkpoint in Iran's East Azerbaijan Province is located on the border with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.
