The Azerbaijani Az-Granata company increased the export of pomegranate products by 68 percent this year compared to 2019, Head of the company’s export department Tural Hajiyev told Trend on Dec.15.
According to Hajiyev, the expected revenues from the products’ export will make up $4.8 million until the end of 2020.
“This year, most of the alcoholic beverages were exported to Turkey - in the amount of $1.02 million,” he reminded.
As he stressed, to date fruit juices have been also exported by the company, and the largest export volumes fell on Russia and other neighboring countries, adding that many foreign countries learned about the juices from Azerbaijani pomegranate.
The company’s representative also noted that in 2020 Az-Granata presented a new product - a pomegranate seed, which will also be exported in 2021.
According to him, the company has 350 hectares of pomegranate orchards located in the Aghsu district, and the productivity of pomegranate products is growing steadily every year.
Speaking about the domestic market, Hajiyev noted that the company is also able to meet the growing demand in the domestic market of the country, and in particular in the market for alcoholic beverages - vodka, cognac, whiskey, due to a decrease in the volume of imported products.
Az-Granata plant, built-in 2011, is one of the biggest producers of alcoholic beverages in the South Caucasus. Besides cognac and wine, the company produces liqueurs, vodka, as well as fruit juices.
