Iran's non-oil exports through Jolfa border checkpoint up

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 16. Iran’s non-oil exports through the Jolfa border checkpoint in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran), increased by 87 percent in value and 55 percent in volume, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Jolfa Customs Office Mohammad Khalili told IRNA, Trend reports.

Khalili noted that about 164,000 tons of goods worth $88.7 million were exported through the Jolfa border checkpoint in 7 months.

He also added that the main exported goods were petroleum products, construction materials and dried fruits.

“Furthermore, 123,000 tons of goods worth about $312 million were imported through Jolfa customs over seven months. The imports increased by 12 percent both in terms of value and volume compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the official said.

According to the director general, the main imported goods were MDF (medium-density fibreboard) and other wood materials.

Khalili also pointed out that the revenues of Jolfa Customs Office for the reporting period amounted to about 9.64 trillion rials (about $229 million), which is an increase of 5 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“In 7 months, 106,210 people crossed into the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan through Jolfa customs border checkpoint, which increased by 2.3 times compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

The Jolfa border checkpoint is located on the border with Iran and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
