BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 8. As many as 2.44 million tons of goods worth $1.43 billion were imported through the customs of Iran’s Mazandaran Province in the north of the country, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Supervisor of Mazandaran Customs Office Asgar Niknafas told reporters, Trend reports citing ISNA.

The official noted that the imports via the province’s customs for the last Iranian year increased by 30 percent in value compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

He added that corn feed, barley feed, wheat, various kinds of cooking oil and etc. were the main imported goods via the province’s customs in the last Iranian year.

Niknafas said that the mentioned goods were imported from 29 countries, mainly Türkiye, the UAE, Russia, Kazakhstan, Switzerland and Turkmenistan through Noshahr, Sari and Fereidoonkenar customs of Mazandaran Province.

Meanwhile, the total non-oil trade turnover via Mazandaran Province’s customs for the last Iranian year amounted to approximately 3.66 million tons worth $1.86 billion.

Overall, Iran imported a total of 33.6 million tons of goods worth $53.7 billion for the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through February 19, 2023).

This is an increase of 15.2 percent in value, while a decrease of 8.61 percent in volume compared to the same period in the preceding Iranian year.
