BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 5. As many as 468,000 tons of non-oil products were exported through Iran’s Jolfa border terminal in East Azerbaijan Province, during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), Director General of East-Azerbaijan Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization Orujali Alizadeh said, Trend reports.
According to him, agricultural products, construction materials, etc. were the main exported products via the terminal within the mentioned period.
"Furthermore, 354,000 tons of cargo were transited through Jolfa border terminal in 5 months," Alizadeh added.
In general, 45.800 trucks crossed through Jolfa border terminal for the reporting period, which is an increase of 3 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year, the director general said.
The Jolfa border terminal is located on the border with Iran and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Overall, Iran exported 55.9 million tons of non-oil products worth $19.3 billion during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 26.5 percent in value and a decrease of 8.55 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, 6.2 million tons of cargo transited through Iran for five months. Transit increased by 5.4 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
