International payment system Visa International is viewing applications by two Azerbaijani banks that expressed their wish to join the Visa Card System, Svetlana Georbelidze, Visa regional Manager for CIS, said in Baku today, Trend reports. No names of the banks are reported yet. Today, Azerbaijan economic prosperity is increasing, and we are also taking part in this process, said VISA representative.
According to her, though Azerbaijan enters the five most developing markets of card payment, such cards are used in cashing the social allowances and wages. The place of the cards in the commercial intercourse is slow. Azerbaijani people still prefer a cashless settlement, she said.
The Visa Project was launched in Azerbaijan in 2004.
