Azerbaijani Government Publicizes Surplus of Public Budget for 10 Months

The State Statistics Committee informed Trend that in January to October 2006 the public budget incomes comprised 3387.4mln manats, or 22.9% of the GDP. It rose in 2.1 times, or by 1735.5mln manats as compared to the last year. The public budget expenses rose 63.2% (1070.8mln manats) and made up 2765.9mln manats (18.7% of the GDP).

The surplus of the public budget comprised 621.5mln manats, or 4.2 of the GDP.

Over the first 10 months of 2006 the Ministry of Taxes remitted 71.4% of all incomes, or 2418.7mln manats to the public budget against the forecast of 108.9%. As of preliminary data, the State Customs Committee remitted 428.6mln manats (with a special weight of 17.2%) in taxes and duties to the public budget, fulfilling the forecast by 102.1%.

In this period a total of 635.4mln manats was obtained from the VAT, or 18.8% of all incomes, 537.7mln manats (15.9%) profit taxes, 238.3mln manats (7%) income taxes, 131.4m manats (3.9%) excise taxes, 211.3mln manats (6.2%) taxes from foreign economic activities

Over the first 10 months of 2006 the public budget expense for social security and provision of people comprised 261mln manats (9.4%). 347.6mln manats (12.6%) was spent on education, 186.9mln manats (6.7%) maintenance of prosecutor bodies, security and law-enforcement and court bodies, 969.9mln manats (35.1%) - on expenses linked with the investment activities. 46.1mln manats (1.7%) housing and communal services, 662.9mln manats (24%) industry and construction, 107.9mln manats (3.9%) agriculture, forestry and fishing. 30.1% (833.9m manats) of budget expenses was directed at payment of wages, pensions and benefits.
