One of the main objectives of the Austrian office of the Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) is to study all segments of the European oil and gas market for company's further participation on this market, head of the SOCAR in Austria Gulmirza Javadov said.
"First of all we study the market for Azerbaijan's participation in any project. Now I fail to say any concrete project. We are considering all segments of the market where Azerbaijan, in particular SOCAR can invest to acquire shares," Javadov said.
The main purpose of representation is to implement a specific link between Azerbaijan and Austrian oil and gas companies, especially with a major Austrian oil and gas company OMV, "which is considered the most important affiliate company for us," Javadov added. OMV is a participant of the Nabucco project.
The current goal of the SOCAR's Austrian representation to analyze information that we receive about changes, about who and what role they play in the market, who has any interests in SOCAR, which formulates strategy, Javadov said, commenting on the possibility of SOCAR to develop a special petrochemical strategy for South Eastern Europe.
SOCAR representation in Austria has regional significance because it works not only for Austria, but also Slovenia, Slovakia and neighboring border countries, in particular, to Hungary.
It is also considering the possibility of holding a special training in Austria as a university, as well as short-term, this issue is also being studied.
