Aktau port reduces oil cargo transshipment in January-March

Aktau International Sea Commercial Port (AISCP) transshipped about 1.71 million tons of oil in January-March 2014, compared to about 2.1 million tons in the same period of 2013, according to a message posted on the port's website on April 3.

The port transshipped over 6.28 million tons of oil in 2013, compared to about 7.6 million tons in 2012.

A part of the oil transshipped via the Aktau port is transported to Baku, from where it goes to Georgia's Black Sea ports via railway.

Some 271,000 tons of the dry cargos transshipped by the port in January-March 2014 accounted for the metal goods, 437,000 tons accounted for ferry cargos, 226,000 tons accounted for grain, and 76,000 tons accounted for other cargoes.

The port transshipped 2.72 million tons of cargos in January-March against 2.78 million tons in the same period of 2013. Ships called at the port 437 times in January-March.

In total the port transshipped 10.08 million tons of cargo in 2013, which is 3.1 percent higher than the projected volume.
