SOCAR reveals oil transportation volumes via BTC pipeline in November

In November 2018, over 2.2 million tons of oil was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR said in a message posted on its website.

In total, 373.8 million tons of oil was transported via the BTC pipeline since the beginning of its operation.

In January-November 2018, 30.4 million tons of oil was transported via the BTC pipeline.

Total length of the BТС is 1,768 kilometers, including a 443-kilometer section running through Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer section in Georgia and a 1,076-kilometer section in Turkey. The construction of the pipeline started in April 2003. It was filled with oil May 18, 2005.

Shareholders of the BTC Co., which was established Aug. 1, 2002 for the project implementation, are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Equinor (8.71 percent), TPAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ExxonMobil (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
