In the first 11 months of 2019, 28.5 million tons of oil were transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline, which is 8 percent less compared to the same period of 2018, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.
In this period, the BTC oil pipeline accounted for 80.4 percent of all oil transported through the country's main oil pipelines.
In total, 35.4 million tons of oil were transported through the country's main pipelines, compared to 38 million tons transported from January through November of 2018.
In the first 11 months of 2019, 4.1 million tons of Turkmen transit oil were transported through the BTC, which is less compared with the same period of 2018 (5.9 million tons).
The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1,768 kilometers, of which 443 kilometers run through the territory of Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers run through Georgia, and 1,076 kilometers go through Turkey. The construction of the pipeline began in April 2003, and it was first filled with oil on May 18, 2005.
