Turkish BOTAS discloses volume of oil transportation through BTC pipeline

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 24

More than 20.1 million barrels of oil were transported via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline in April 2020, which is 14.3 percent higher compared to the same period of last year (over 17.6 million barrels), Turkey’s BOTAS Petroleum Pipeline Corporation told Trend on June 24.

According to the company, in the first four months of this year, over 77.7 million barrels of oil were transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline.

In 2019, 235.2 million barrels of oil were transported through the BTC pipeline, which is 7.8 percent less than in 2018.

The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1,768 kilometers, of which 443 kilometers run through the territory of Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers run through Georgia, and 1,076 kilometers go through Turkey. The construction of the pipeline began in April 2003, and it was first filled with oil on May 18, 2005.
