As many as 5 oil platforms are being built for the installation at the Abuzar, Forouzan and Resalat oil fields of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), Executive Director of IOOC Alireza Salmanzadeh said, Trend reports citing National Iranian Oil Company’s website.

Salmanzadeh emphasized that A20 and A21 Platforms will be installed in the Abuzar, FY-A and FZ-A platforms in the Forouzan and one platform in the Resalat fields.

The director added that oil extraction from the fields will increase with the installation of these platforms.

"According to the plan, the platforms will be installed in the Abuzar field over the next Iranian year (from March 21, 2021 to March 21, 2022)," he said.

Iran’s Forouzan oil field (called Marjan in Saudi Arabia) is a joint field with Saudi Arabia. As reported, the field contains about 2.3 billion barrels of oil. Iran extracts about 40,000 barrels of oil daily from the field.

Iran's Abuzar oil field is located in Bushehr province, 75 km west of Kharg Island. The field contains about 4 billion barrels of crude oil. Iran extracts daily 220,000 barrels of oil from the field.

Iran's Resalat oil field is located 85 kilometers from the Lavan Island in Hormozgan Province. Iran extracts 46,000 barrels of oil per day from this field.
