Most of oil transported via Azerbaijan's main pipelines account for BTC

Azerbaijan had transported 11.9 million tons of oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline from January through April 2021, which is 7.03 percent less compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing a report of the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

Over the reporting period, the BTC accounted for 76.1 percent of all oil transported through the main oil pipelines of Azerbaijan (9.06 million tons).

At the same time, about 1.28 million tons of transit (Turkmen) oil were exported through the BTC, decrease of 14.2 percent over the year.

The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1,768 kilometers, of which 443 kilometers run through the territory of Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers - Georgia, 1,076 kilometers - Turkey. Construction of the pipeline began in April 2003 and was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.
