Loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 28. Azerbaijani banks' loan portfolio grew by 17.04 percent and reached 21.8 billion manat ($12.8 billion) on August 31, 2023, year-on-year, Trend reports.

The data from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan shows that the loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks amounted to 18.6 billion manat ($10.9 billion) as of August 31, 2022.

In the structure of the banks' loan portfolio, the share of business loans amounted to 54.2 percent (11.8 billion manat, which is $6.9 billion, up 12.67 percent over the year), consumer loans at 29.94 percent (6.5 billion manat, which is $3.8 billion, up 20.6 percent over the year), and mortgage loans at 15.86 percent (3.4 billion manat, which is $1.9 billion, up 26.74 percent over the year).

The total assets of banks in Azerbaijan exceeded 45.3 billion manat ($26.6 billion), total liabilities were 39.4 billion manat ($23.1 billion), and total capital was 5.8 billion manat ($3.4 billion) as of August 31, 2023.

Moreover, the data of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan shows that assets, liabilities, and capital of the banking sector increased by 7.39; 6.24, and 14.5 percent, respectively, year-on-year.
